TORONTO, ON (November 2nd, 2015) - Kira Talent, the company behind Kira Academic, a talent assessment and video-interviewing platform designed for university and college admissions, today announces that it will host a live webinar, Stopped at the Door: Preventing Plagiarism in Business School Applications. Andrew Hastings from Kira Talent and Carrie Marcinkevage, the MBA Managing Director at Penn State’s Smeal School of Business, will discuss what factors drive application fraud and how schools can protect themselves against it during the admissions process.

“With research published by New York Times, USA Today and Bloomberg, Carrie Marcinkevage has become the unofficial spokesperson on fighting admissions fraud. We’re thrilled to have her share her years of experience in this live webinar,” said Andrew Hastings, marketing manager of Kira Talent. “Webinar participants will also hear how I went undercover to demonstrate how easy it is for students to commit application fraud. The Kira team hopes that by sharing this information, schools can protect themselves during the admissions process, ensuring they accept only the best students for their programs.”

In the live Q&A style webinar, Marcinkevage and Hastings will address the issue of application fraud, including:

  • Why students plagiarize and how common and easy it can be
  • How the Smeal School of Business uncovered application fraud and what measures they’ve taken to address the problem
  • Recommendations and tips from Marcinkevage’s research to help fight fraud in schools

Marcinkevage and Hastings will bring their extensive knowledge of the higher education admissions process to the webinar. As the marketing manager of Kira, Hastings works on the marketing strategy, brand management, and lead generation tactics for Kira Academic and is the author of “Admissions Fraud: The Truth Behind the Application.” As MBA Managing Director at Penn State’s Smeal School of Business, Marcinkevage oversees admissions, student services, career and employment services, and alumni involvement.
